The second noble truth of the Buddha
->
Second noble truth relates to the suffering of origin. Benaresskaya sermon spoke about this: «Here, the monks, the noble truth about the origin of suffering. That – and a thirst, which is the revival, which is accompanied by joy and lust, which is here, and there is a joy, as the thirst for lusts, thirst (eternal) life, thirst (eternal) death ». Under «revenge» (trshna) Buddha spirits of course, the desire to live, approval of the will of life. In Suttanipate says: «Every caused suffering comes from desire, but with the full destruction of thirst, with the release of passion, can not be suffering. The man, accompanied by a thirst for a long wandering path relocation shower, is not exempt from the revival of the soul ». In Dhammapade read: «Who in the world beset this evil, poisonous thirst, suffering that is growing as razmnozhayuschayasya grass-Bireh. If anyone in the world will fight this malevolent, it is difficult odolevaemuyu thirst, of no longer suffering, like a drop of water on a lotus leaf. Like a tree, even povalennoe, shoot again if its roots are not damaged, and suffering back again, if the thirst and the desire not destroyed. People, prompted revenge, mechutsya as the hare in silkah. Bound in fetters and ties, they make long suffering, and have it over and over again. Mad kills himself in his thirst for pleasure, as if he were his own enemy ».
For the people it was sufficient to establish that there is a thirst, and that it – the cause of suffering. It was easy to demonstrate through examples from everyday life. But on to the questions inevitably arise: how is it lust? As for the reason that we are once again yield to it? How to explain that it carries us from birth to birth? Buddha is not evaded answers to these questions. Already in ancient texts, we find sharply worded response, but expressed in the dark, technical language, very difficult to understand. This formula is called pratityasamutpada, ie «Appearance (something) according to (what other)», otherwise the formula of «relation of cause and effect» or «causation». This formula – one of the most fundamental teachings of Buddhism, and its holiness is directly behind the four noble truths, with which it is sometimes directly connected. It reads: «Because of ignorance there are subtle impressions, from the latent impressions myslitelnaya a substance, the substance of the mind there are a name and form, of the name and form arise six bodies out of the six bodies of a contact, there is a sense of touch, out of a sense of thirst, of thirst occurs attachment (literally: clinging to existence) of the attachment (to the existence of) a Education (conception); education arises from birth, old age raised from birth and death, pain and complaints, suffering, sorrow and despair. That is the emergence of a kingdom of suffering ».
Usually, a formula that nanizyvaetsya and «back», ie negative to its positive presentation. «If ignorance is eliminated perfect destruction of desire, it is the destruction of the latent impressions; destruction hidden impressions destroyed myslitelnaya substance; destruction thought destroyed the name of the substance and form, the destruction of the name and form of the six bodies are destroyed, the destruction of six bodies destroyed them; destruction destroyed a sense of common ground, the destruction of feelings of thirst are destroyed, the destruction of thirst destroyed attachment (to the existence of) the destruction of attachment (to the existence of) destroyed education (conception), the destruction of education destroyed birth; destruction destroyed birth and death of old age, and complaints of pain, suffering, sorrow and despair. That is the destruction of all the kingdoms of suffering ». This negative statement of formula is in its essence only the development of a third of the four noble truths of the destruction of suffering.
Benaresskaya sermon spoke about this: «Here, the monks, the noble truth about the destruction of suffering, it is – full exemption from thirst, the destruction of her rejection, abandonment, expulsion». The formula explains, however, also a third truth.
